Dr. Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori, medical doctor and educator, made the child not only visible but central in her development of a method which evokes and strengthens the child’s highest potential. Every child moves through successive phases of physical and mental development, identified by Dr. Montessori as “Sensitive Periods.”

Montessori Approach

According to Montessori, each child has an inner-guide that leads them to the work in the classroom that they most need at that moment to further their own development. “The guide exists within them from the first moment. To care for, and keep awake, the guide within every child is a matter of the first importance”. Key to the Montessori approach is respect of the interests of the child to allow them to choose the work they are most interested in and provide the opportunity to explore materials at their own pace with guidance and support from the teachers.

Deeply rooted in Montessori education is the importance of helping children to build confidence and develop a sense of independence and self-motivation both within the classroom as well as in their lives outside of school. This approach has been successful for over 100 years because it encourages and draws its principles from the natural development of the child regardless of his/her level of ability and learning style or pace. Montessori children grow to be kind, responsible, patient, cooperative, eager to problem solve, self-motivate and with a love of learning.

Our Approach

Our curriculum follows, ‘The Montessori Method of Education’ that guides the curious minds of children helping them to gradually make sense of the world around them. The 'Montessori Environment’ are beautifully designed where children work with child-size materials and learn to interact and work with others as they explore concepts of learning with confidence and ease.

"Montessori Method" aspires to shape young minds and nurture their souls. Education at 'Kilkari Montessori School’ goes beyond books and exams. Our school environment provides both physical and mental space to grow, explore, discover, think, question and reflect. We believe in our motto of Inspiring Lives with Meaning.'

Our trained and experienced qualified teachers observe each child's interest and developing skills. They plan and implement an individualised programme that allows each child to actively engage in learning and develop cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically.

Peace Education

At 'Kilkari Montessori School’, keeping in mind Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy, which is 'Peace Education', an organized and a beautiful 'Prepared Environment' is prepared to help the child achieve their highest potential like, concentration, normalization, freedom within limits and social cohesion, building a mini-community.

Our goal is to help the child learn joyfully all areas of learning, social, emotional, critical thinking, problem solving, hands on learning, to increase attention span and concentration.

The focus is not on marks and percentage. We are here to build all the skills required for lifelong learning not just for schools, an environment in which the child will succeed bringing peace and harmony for themselves and to the community they live.

Prepared Environment

Children in the 'Montessori Environment' spend days in intentionally 'Prepared Environment' which nurtures and support to develop their inner potentials to the highest. We nurture the seeds of tomorrow and build a future that reflects the limitless potential with every child.

This 'Enriching Environment supports the child's 'Independence and Will' with utmost joy.

Furniture’s are made child's size and spaces for peaceful rest to create an ideal environment for the first steps towards independence and autonomy.

The tools are made non -toxic, colour coded, sensory stimulating which supports creativity .

A 'Prepared Environment' which is enriching can have a long term positive impact on the child's cognitive abilities .

Chikkla Chakma

Founder and Director

Chikkla is an ardent supporter of education and holds the Montessori Method in high regard for its enormous capacity to deliver quality education.

She had worked in the financial industry before becoming a teacher, but she soon realized that the work she was doing did not gave her satisfaction. Later, she took a leave of absence from her work to care for her father, who was ill and suffering from dementia. It was during this period that she learned about the Montessori approach to education via a family member. And from that point on, no turning around.

For a couple of years now, Chikkla has worked with children’s ranging in age from 12 months to 6 years old. She enjoys learning from the children’s around her, which is why she adores becoming a Montessori teacher. She finds great satisfaction in watching them grow into self-sufficient individuals and in the way they happily pick up new skills in various contexts without feeling compelled.

She graduated from the University of Mysore with a degree in Economics and from Indian Montessori Training Center in Bangalore with a diploma in Montessori primary education (2.5–6 years).

Nandina Talukdar

Directress

Nandina is a mother of three children. She has done her graduation in Literature and post graduate in travel and tourism. Her Montessori journey began when her eldest daughter turned 2 years. While she was working in an international school which has Montessori Lab and she encountered the education in a different manner. She spent two months voluntarily and decided to undergo training further on Montessori education.

She has to shift to Delhi from Bangalore, however, she continued to work in a Montessori school called “Ardee Montessori School”. She was very inspired by this philosophy as Montessori education is a pure holistic education for life. It is based on “Peace Education” which is sustainable in today’s world.
